Apple iPad 5 Rumors: Features to be ‘significantly Lighter and Thinner’

Apple released its third- and fourth-generation iPads last year with powerful processors and gorgeous Retina displays. So how will the Cupertino, Calif.-based company improve its full-size tablet in 2013? According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s fifth-generation iPad, which we’ll call “iPad 5,” is expected to be released sometime in the third quarter of 2013.

This is absolutely different from others’ prediction. Brian Whit, another analyst of Topeka Capital Markets, said on Jan. 11 that, a new fifth-generation iPad and a second-generation iPad Mini are on the agenda in the next two months.

But both famous analysts agree that the iPad 5 will be significantly lighter and thinner than last year’s 9.7-inch models.

Besides the iPad 5 predictions, Ming-Chi Kuo also outlines his expectations of Apple’s 2013 product launches in his new research.

According to Kuo’s expectations, besdies the fifth-generation iPad and the second-generation iPad mini, in the coming third quarater of the year, Apple will also release two iPhones – iPhone 5s and a revamped iPhone 5; update the MacBook Pro with Retina, moving this line to all-Retinal lineup; introduce a scaled-back fifth-generation model with 8 GB of storage and no rear camera at $199.

Kuo has a very good track record in predicting Apple’s product plans. For example, last year, Kuo correctly predicted Apple’s entire product slate for the second half of 2012 — including two new iPads (the iPad Mini and iPad 4 at the end of the year), the Retina display MacBook Pro, the redesigned iMac and much more — as well as the respective release dates for each of those devices.

So, if his predictions are right this time, we will be expecting iPad 5 in few months. It’s really a good news for Apple fans, isn’t it? So, will you buy the iPad 5 when it is released?

Just post your comments to let us know how do you think this predictions.

Tablet PC Versus Notebook, Steve Jobs Was Right.

As the tablet PC technology is developing maturely, many tablets of kinds of sizes are provided to users, like iPad Mini of 7.9 inches and iPad of 9.7 inches, and Kindle Fire of 7 inches. Smaller the tablet is, it is more portable and easier to take at hand or get into small handbags. However, most tablet PCs are under-power, comparing with notebook PCs, and mainly used for entertainment, just not capable with business, this may be the reason that’s why people still choose a notebook.

But according to NPD DisplaySearch Reports, Tablet PC shipments are expected to reach more than 240 million units worldwide in 2013, easily exceeding the 207 million notebook  PCs.

Below is an image shows the shipment share forecast by screen size, and we can know that the small size tablet under 9.7″ will account for almost 70%.

And from the reports, in 2017, tablet PCs will account for up to 74% in the worldwide. And this is just like Steve Job’s predictions.

Tablet PCs are more and more popular in our daily life, especially Apple’s iPad or iPad Mini, they can not onlybe used in schools for lessons, but they also give us much fun to play games with our friends. And I know why iPad is still the children’s best choice for presents now.

Microsoft to show more details on its Windows 8 app sotre next week

News from Winrumors show that, Microsoft is planning to reveal details on its Windows Store plans for Windows 8 in a briefing on Tuesday next week.

The software giant has invited a number of press, analysts and developers to a two-hour preview event in San Francisco on December 6. ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley reports that the event is entitled “Windows Store Preview” and looks set to provide developers with key information about the company’s plans in Windows 8.

Microsoft previously detailed its Windows Store efforts at its Build conference earilier this year in mid-September. The Windows Store is a Metro style application. The application is built on the same WinRT APIs that developers can use themselves across their Windows 8 Metro apps. Windows Store takes advantage of HTML5 and JavaScript to provide end users with a portal for secure, tested applications. All applications include a brief overview, full detail page and reviews. The overview section will indicate the supported platform for the application (x86/64/ARM).

Trying to outdo Apple’s Mac App store, the Windows Store will let users download free trial copies of Metro-style apps to check out for a limited time. So developers won’t have to cook up both paid and “lite” versions of their applications. Beyond that, both free and paid apps would be available. Microsoft will also run security checks and other tests to certify each app.

One of the more interesting aspects of the Store is the ability for websites to advertise their Windows 8 Metro application for download on their own site. Websites with an application will include a button for end users to launch or download the application. The launch surface will push the user straight into the Metro Windows Store experience and offer them the ability to download or trial the application. If the application is already installed then it will simply work as a launch surface for the existing app.

What do you think of Windows 8 app store? You could share your opinion with comments.
